The Behavior Consultant develops, delivers, and monitors individualized behavior programs for children with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) with the goal of a more effective and improved quality of life for children between the ages of 6-12 years. The program will focus on developing functional adaptive living skills and increasing independence levels in multiple daily activities which includes; functional routines and transitions, communication, social skills, play and leisure skills, imitation and community integration including safety skills. In addition, Behavior Consultants are responsible for the performance of tutors and lead tutors for each program.
The consultant is also responsible for assessing the needs of clients and developing individualized behavior programs accordingly. By providing clients with on-site supervision, consultants monitor therapy teams to insure client success. Consultants continuously watch the child’s progress and troubleshoot to create the most effective treatment plan for the team. Consultants may conduct workshops for families interested in developing community based activities relevant to individual dynamics. At each visit to the client’s home, the consultant will monitor curriculum, review the notebook, review data, and observe program implementation. Consultants will discuss concerns and observations of care providers (i.e. teachers and/or parents), revise curriculum, interface with adjunctive service providers and other professionals, and also interface with representatives from schools and other agencies. The consultant will also write reports quarterly.

An Educational Consultant develops, delivers, and monitors behavior services for children across a variety of developmental disabilities (ASD, MR, ED, VI, OHI, ADHD) in the classroom to provide children with maximum access to instruction in the least restrictive environment. Educational Consultants are responsible for the performance of Advance Kids’ school aides and lead tutors assigned to specific clients and work closely with district staff (program specialists, teachers, aides) to implement behavior intervention plans, IEP goals, curriculum modifications and adaptations, and collaborates with IEP team member (Speech, OT, DIS services) to implement behavioral services.
The Educational Consultant conducts behavioral assessments (FBA’s, FAA’s) develops, implements and monitors behavior intervention plans and provides ongoing behavior consultation to address behavior excesses in the classroom. Classroom consultation, staff support and training, communication and collaboration with parents and staff members are critical components of the position to ensure consistent and effective implementation of behavioral services in the classroom. Additional supervision and training may be provided to district staff members (teachers, aides) and Advance Kids’ support staff. The Educational Consultant is a critical member of the IEP team and makes recommendations for classroom placement and instruction, develops and monitors IEP goals and implementation of designated services. Educational Consultants may provide general classroom consultation and ongoing support for the teacher and classroom staff through individualized consultation regarding the classroom topography, visual effects, communication, reinforcement system development and modifications, transitional cues, lesson material modifications and teaching techniques. Additional areas of consultation may include providing support services to increase the level of appropriate socialization for an individual student within the classroom setting including communication, playing with peers, interaction with peers at lunch and recess and building relationships with same-age peers.
